The Krka River, and numerous lakes that contain natural dams, forms a border between North and Central Dalmatia, and travels seventy five kilometres through the Croatian hills. The best way to experience the river is by boat upstream from Lake Visovac to Roški Slap.

Above Roški Slap, and before the water plunges down to Lake Visovac, the calm and reflective waters of the national park make this landscape even more beautiful. The grey rock, with its layers of reddish marl, is reminiscent of Utah and Arizona which is why the German Winnetou films were shot in this area.

Twelve kilometres from Šibenik and depending on the season, various large quantities of water crash down to the Prokljansko Jezero. The water makes its way through small forests and rock sediment that have formed one limestone sinter terrace after another.

The masses of water gradually advance to the most spectacular travertin waterfall in Europe, Skradinski Buk.

In the Krka, nature has created a wonder, an intriguing spectacle of both water and landscape.
