<p>From 1778 the ‘New Castle’ was inhabited by the noble Von Silvers Family and today the Museum Of History And Art is housed there.

<p>Since the thirteenth century, the mediaeval castle has shared its fate together with the city in fighting against Russian, Polish and Swedish armies.  Despite much damage, today the ruins are still impressive and is where unique nature combines with atmospheric historic buildings.
