Bamberg is located in Bavaria and the history of the town can be traced back to the year 902. A typical German city from the Middle Ages situated at the river Regnitz, where today the fishermen's houses inspired the title "Little Venice".

The famous Gothic building of the "Old Town Hall" stands on piles in the middle of the river Regnitz and can only be reached from either side via bridges. Since the 14th century, the town hall has formed the border between the bishop's mountain town and the citizens' island town.

The Bamberg Emperor's Cathedral at the top of the mountain district is not only the most striking building in the old town but is considered one of the most important sacred buildings in the German-speaking world. The interior is furnished with artistic altars, the Equestrian of Bamberg statue, the imperial tomb of Henry the Second and the pope's tomb of Clemens the Second. Just like ancient Rome, Bamberg was built on seven hills. The thousand-year history can be seen everywhere. The old town on the slope of the castle hill is the largest intact historical town centre in Germany and has been declared a World Cultural Heritage Site.

Nearby is the "Schiller's Place", where a theatre and a residential building are also reminiscent of another great universal artist of the German language: E.T.A. Hoffmann.

This visit to the city ends at the Watercastle Concordia. The baroque castle is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Regnitz, where the great history of Bamberg lives on.
