Transylvania, the fabulous Siebenbürgen, is situated in the centre of Romania.
Let's start this journey at a world-famous place Bran Castle, the castle of Count Dracula, in the middle of the Carpathian landscape. Further north, a chalk cliff rises above the city Râşnov. A medieval peasant castle is enthroned on top.
Braşov or Kronstadt, the "City of the Crown" is also in the centre of Romania. The path leads through a large wooden gate to the orthodox monastery of Sâmbăta De Sus.

The charming small village of Biertan, the former Birthälm, one of the oldest German settlements is situated in the Transylvanian wine country. The town of Mediaş landmark is the almost 70-metre high, but slightly inclined trumpet tower. Far to the west is the town of Hunedoara, formerly known as Eisenmarkt. The country's largest open-air museum Astra was established near Sibiu in a park with meadows, forest and lakes. Mighty walls protect the European Capital of Culture, Sibiu, formerly known as Hermannstadt.
