Our journey starts in Rumtse, situated on the highway from Manali to Ladakh - a region in the far north of India, close to the Tibetan border. The Tibetans call Changtang the Northern Highlands. Unsuitable for agriculture because it is too elevated, Changtang has always been the home of the "Drokpa", the wandering herders of Tibet. ....
The Changtang is one of the most remote regions of Asia, and perhaps this is why its inhabitants have been able to preserve their such archaic lifestyle. Nonetheless, even in their poverty a cultural wealth has been preserved, which abides within a real community with great social responsibility toward each other.
