We are here in the northernmost part of Mongolia, an inhospitable region, and surprisingly we can find traces of human presence. Some of these rock carvings are from the Stone Age, because you can also find representations of mammoths. Others are from the Bronze Age, when man already used bow and arrow for hunting. When there was no writing, man had to limit himself to carving his messages for other contemporaries in the form of drawings in the rocks. Perhaps these were also rites of the shamans to communicate with their ancestors. Such rock paintings can be found all over the world. In Mongolia there are two other places in the Altai mountains with more than 100,000 petroglyphs from various epochs.
