<p>Due to its religious and historic importance the monastery is very popular with both the faithful and tourists alike and in 1998 a splendid museum was inaugurated that exhibits numerous works of precious art.  

<p>The atmosphere of the museum’s exhibition rooms with their marble floors, ornate wooden ceilings and special illumination. give visitors a strong sense of bygone times.  Unique icons and stone reliefs are a reminder of the fame and splendour of Greek culture and the Greek Orthodox religion.

<p>The Panagia is entered from a second inner courtyard.  The iconastasis of this small monastery church are among the most splendid and precious of the Greek Orthodox world.

<p>Each of the monastery’s buildings was re-built following a fire in 1813 but thankfully 
the ‘miracle’ has survived to the present day.
