Valle De Viñales in the west of Cuba is in many ways a unique place. The twenty-seven-kilometre journey to the famous and, according to several cigar experts, Cuba’s finest tobacco plantation, is a fascinating experience. The route leads past rocks and the smaller peaks of the Guaniguanico Mountain Range that is part of the Sierra De Los Organos.
The Indian cave, Cueva Del Indio, was first discovered in 1920. Mysterious paths and passages lead deeper into the mountain via several large rooms and halls. Many Pre-Columbian artefacts and bones that date back to 4,000 B.C. were found in this magnificent system of caves.
The impressive slopes of the Alturas De Pizarras are one of the oldest geological formations in Cuba and high protective mountains surround the picturesque Viñales Valley and contribute to the mysterious, timeless atmosphere of this region.
The Valle De Viñales owes its increasing popularity to its remarkable and unique combination of nature added to its fascinating agricultural splendour as well as to the many wonderful sights and experiences that the area has to offer.
